Summerville police are searching for four people in connection with a shooting near the intersection of Shamrock Drive and North Maple Street this morning,
A man was taken to Medical University Hospital in serious condition after he was found shot on Maple Drive, authorities say. The victim was reportedly shot in the abdomen.
The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m., after someone forced entry into a home.
Dominick Smith, who lives in the home, said he had just returned to the house when four men kicked in the door wearing masks. Shots were fired, he said, and one person was struck by a bullet.
Smith said he isn’t sure who was actually wounded. The person who was shot was apparently outside his house, he said.
Two of the suspects are said to be dressed in black and two are in camouflage.
Police said they are still trying to piece together what happened.
One person was hit with a Taser for running from police. Officers haven’t confirmed whether he is connected to the shooting. They said they just wanted to ask him some questions and he took off running.
