Police didn’t have to look far for the suspect after a West Ashley woman said her ex-boyfriend broke the door frame to get into her apartment.
He wrecked his car shortly after leaving the apartment Sunday night, according to Charleston police.
Ryan White, 28, of Postell Road in Ravenel was charged with DUI, an open-container violation and first-degree burglary.
White’s ex-girlfriend told police White broke into her apartment on Lochaven Drive while she was out getting supper for her and her daughter about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Her daughter told police White was outside the door saying he was going to hurt her mother, then broke the door frame to get in while she hid in a bedroom closet. Several items in the kitchen were damaged and a hole punched in the master bedroom door but nothing taken from the house, according to the report.
White wrecked his car about 9:50 p.m. at Bees Ferry and Sanders roads, according to police. He was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment.
White was being held in the Charleston County jail on $21,259 bail Monday.
