MOUNT PLEASANT — College of Charleston earned a doubleheader sweep of Western Carolina in Southern Conference softball at Patriots Point on Saturday on senior day.
The Cougars won, 9-1, in five innings, then edged the Catamounts, 2-1, in the nightcap.
College of Charleston (32-16, 13-6 SoCon) has now won 13 straight and is 17-1 in April. The Cougars will look to complete the series sweep today at 1 p.m.
Hope Klicker struck out four for her 17th complete game in the opener. Six of the nine runs were driven in by seniors Kristy Giragosian (2 hits, 3 RBIs), former Hanahan standout Ashton Jarrett (2 hits, 2 RBIs) and Courtney Clark.
Senior Stephanie Saylors notched a complete game in the second game, striking out six. Carly Corthell had a walk-off RBI single with two outs in the seventh.
Chandler Frisbie was 2 for 3 with an RBI to account for two of the Cougars’ three hits.
