The High School League’s state baseball and softball playoffs swing into full gear today with a full schedule on tap.

Among the highlights:

West Ashley hosts Fort Dorchester in Class AAAA baseball. West Ashley won its first outright region championship since the school opened and now looks to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Defending Class AAAA baseball state champion Ashley Ridge travels to Cane Bay.

Hanahan, the Class AA Lower State baseball champion last spring, is playing at the Class AAA level this season. The Hawks travel to Airport.

Bishop England has won state titles in 2003, ’05, ’07, ’09 and ’11. The Bishops host Bamberg-Ehrhardt today.

The Summerville softball and baseball teams both host Conway. The softball game starts at 6 p.m., while the baseball game is slated for 7 p.m.

The playoffs conclude with the state championship series, which will begin the week of May 13.
