CONWAY--Hilton Head Christian won the SCISA Class AAA state golf championship Tuesday with a 13-stoke victory over Pinewood Prep at Coastal Carolina’s Hackler Golf Course.
Hilton Head Christian began the second day of the two-day tournament tied with the Panthers.
But the Eagles prevailed on the second day, carding a 298 for a team total of 610, besting Pinewood Prep’s 312-311--623. Hilton Head Prep finished third with a 323-312--635 total.
J.D. Lehman led the way for Hilton Head Christian, as the senior carded a team-best 71 Tuesday for a 77-71--148 total to help the Eagles pull out the title. Pinewood Prep had won the previous four state championships before Hilton Head Prep and Hilton Head Christian took home the crown in each of the last two seasons
Wilson Hall was fourth with 645 and Porter-Gaud fifth at 655.
Pinewood’s Richard Hubbard was the tournament medalist. He shot 68-69 for a 7 under 137. He was the only player under par at the tournament.
Katelyn Dambaugh shot a 155.
