Calvin Orth collected four hits andl drove in two runs as The Citadel built a six-run lead against Charleston Southern, then held on for an 8-5 victory in college baseball today at Riley Park.
Orth belted a double and a triple to go with two singles, and the 25-17 Bulldogs won their eighth straight game and second in three meetings with CSU (17-24).
Johnathan Stokes drove in three runs and Brett Bullard two for the Bulldogs, who got a strong start from freshman pitcher Austin Livingston (4-0). He went a season-high five innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out five.
Closer Skylar Hunter worked the ninth for his 11th save.
Chase Shelton and John Faircloth drove in two runs each for the Bucs.
The Citadel is at Furman this weekend, while CSU gets an eight-day break for exams before traveling to Georgia Southern.
