North Charleston police officer charged with DUI
A North Charleston police officer is behind bars today, charged with driving under the influence and open container, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.
Christina Mask, 29, was headed east on McMakin Road in Jedburg when the fully marked 2011 Ford Crown Victoria she was driving ran off the road and struck a driveway culvert, Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres said.
The wreck happened about 1 a.m., Beres said. Mask was off duty and wearing a seat belt, he said.
Mask is being held at the Dorchester County jail, Beres said.
She has been placed on administrative leave without pay, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. Mask has been employed with the department since 2009, he said.
