Three North Charleston teens arrested on drug charges after one says he was robbed
Three North Charleston teens were arrested on drug charges Saturday after one of them said he was kidnapped and robbed.
Here’s what happened, according to an incident report from North Charleston police.
About 10 p.m. Friday, officers were sent to check out a report of shots fired around Bonaparte Drive. They found Dangelo Dontreal Brown, 19, of West Montague Avenue standing at Scarsdale Drive and Bonaparte Drive. He told them he had been kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint. Brown said he was walking to his girlfriend’s house when a green Ford Taurus pulled up at Marseilles Drive and Scarsdale Drive and three men got out.
He said he recognized one of them as “Maurice.” He said Maurice pulled out a gray and black semiautomatic handgun and a second man showed a silver snub-nosed revolver and they forced Brown into the back seat of the car between them.
The other man started driving while the men on either side hit him in the head with their guns and fists, according to Brown. Maurice tried to put a bag over his head, and they took his wallet containing $300 in cash, according to Brown.
Brown told officers he was finally able to push open a door and he and Maurice fell out of the car together. Brown said he heard a shot fired and somebody yell “Ow.” Then he said he took off running, carrying a ball cap from one of the men that he later gave to officers.
Officers found the Taurus on Bonaparte Drive, with Brown’s money in the front seat and a 9 mm shell casing near the rear passenger side tire. The car was registered to John Thomas Thompson, 19, of Garrett Avenue.
Brown, Thompson and Maurice Xavier Hadnod, 19, of Alabama Drive were all arrested Saturday and charged with conspiracy to violate the stat’s narcotic laws. Hadnod was also charged with discharging a firearm in city limits.
