Two men, one woman shot on Red Comet Road in Colleton County
Colleton County deputies are searching for suspects in a shooting that left two men and a woman injured, one of them critically.
A man called 911 about 10 p.m. on Thursday saying that he had been shot, Chief Deputy Ted Stanfield said. It happened at a home at 391 Red Comet Road.
Deputies found two of the wounded underneath a carport attached to the home, Stanfield said. The third person was found inside a doorway that led into the residence, he said.
Deputies identified the wounded as Jason T. “Jaybo” Copeland, 40; Melody Marie “Ree” Flowers, 42; and Johnny Lee Jenkins Jr., 35.
None told deputies who may be responsible for the shooting or why, Stanfield said.
Copeland and Jenkins both live at the home, Stanfield said. Their grandmother was found unharmed inside the house.
Flowers is a friend who frequently stops by, Stanfield said.
Flowers and Jenkins were each shot multiple times, Stanfield said. Copeland was shot once in the leg, he said.
Copeland and Flowers were transported to Colleton Regional Hospital on Thursday, Stanfield said. Copeland has since been released and Flowers was listed in stable condition, he said.
Jenkins was flown to Medical University Hospital, where he remained Friday in critical condition.
The incident remains under investigation, Stanfield said.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Sheriff’s Office at 549-1203.
