North Charleston man accused of having computer videos of nude women and children
North Charleston police are investigating after police say they searched a home in the Great Oaks subdivision and found several videos of women and children, apparently filmed without their knowledge as they changed in and out of their clothes.
John Lapinski, 35 of West Palm View Circle in North Charleston, is charged with three counts of “peeping Tom” and six counts of voyeurism in connection with the incident, police said.
A man went to City Hall Monday morning to report seeing images of his naked 6-year-old daughter on a hard drive that belonged to his neighbor, an incident report states. Police identified Lapinski as the man’s neighbor.
Officers searched Lapinski’s home and found at least 16 videos of nude children and women. Several of the videos were filmed apparently without the subjects’ knowledge, police said.
More charges will likely be filed against Lapinski as the investigation continues, police said.
Lapinski is in the Air Force, according to an incident report. Detectives will collaborate with the military branch’s Office of Special Investigations to gather more information on Lapinski’s behavior, police said.
Lapinski is being held at the Charleston County jail in lieu of a $45,000 bail, jail records show.
