Home sales were strong in the Lowcountry in March, following what has been a year-long positive trend for the region, officials reported today.
The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors reported 1,045 homes sold at a median price of $202,210 last month. The last time March home sales passed the 1,000 transaction benchmark was in 2007, the agency added.
Through March, 2,424 homes have sold at a median price of $182,500 in the tri-county region, a 16 percent increase in sales volume compared to 2012. The median price has also swelled from the $176,816 from January through March 2012.
The housing market is getting help from low mortgage rates and lower home prices compared with years ago, though both are ticking up.
