Clemson 9, Boston College 2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Clemson scored four runs in the first inning and cruised past Boston College (5-24, 0-13 ACC) in front of 1,651 fans at Commander Shea Field. The Tigers (20-11, 8-6) took a 2-0 lead in the series.

Freshman righthander Clate Schmidt (3-1) earned the win by pitching a career-high-tying seven innings. He gave up six hits, two runs, and five walks with two strikeouts.

Patrick Andrews pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and no runs.

Tyler Slaton, Thomas Brittle and Shane Kennedy had two hits apiece to pace Clemson’s 12-hit attack.

The Tigers did not strike out in the game.
