HANAHAN--Summerville defeated Starr’s Mill, Ga. 8-6 today to win the 44th annual Hanahan Invitational Tournament.
The Green Wave picked up its first HIT title since the mid-1990s with two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Tournament MVP Zach Mosay hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to give the Green Wave a 7-6 lead and Billy Peatross followed with an RBI single to give the Wave its 12th victory of the season against six losses.
Mosay had multiple hit games in the HIT and batted nearly .600. He also picked up a pitching victory with a win over previously undefeated Berkeley in a semifinal game.
Summerville scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning, including three on Michael Powell’s home run to take a 6-3 lead.
