The blood donation center in Room 279 of the main hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina will close permanently on Friday, the Red Cross confirmed.
The donation center was previously open three days a week. Recently, its hours had been scaled back to Mondays and Fridays.
Red Cross spokeswoman April Phillips said in a statement to The Post and Courier, “We are confident that our combined efforts will result in even more donations by the generous MUSC blood donor community and are grateful for MUSC’s support of the Red Cross and commitment to ensuring blood is available to patients in need.”
The American Red Cross also operates blood donation centers in West Ashley and Mt. Pleasant.
