The investigation into Tuesday’s fire at 213 East Bay St. is on hold due to safety and structural concerns, Charleston Fire Department officials said.
Fire Department officials will collaborate with insurance adjusters and investigators to determine the best method to stabilize the structure and continue the investigation, Charleston Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh said. The process could possibly take weeks to implement, he said.
Officials plan to gather on Thursday to further evaluate the scene. Equipment and process plans may be established the following week, Julazadeh said.
On Tuesday, water was removed from adjacent buildings and power restored, Julazadeh said. Tenants were also allowed access to their homes, he said.
