South Carolina Elecric & Gas Co. will donate $1 to renewable energy generation non-profit Palmetto Clean Energy for every customer who signs up for paperless billing during April.
“April is Earth Month and a great time to bring awareness to the available renewable energy sources in South Carolina,” said Bob Long, chairman of the PaCE board of directors. “SCE&G customers can help support the development of renewable energy sources in our state by simply signing up for the paperless billing option. It’s easy to do and environmentally friendly too.”
More than 190,000, or about 30 percent, of SCE&G’s customers have signed up for paperless billing, more than twice the national average of 12 percent among utilities.
With paperless billing, customers receive an e-mail from SCE&G when their current bill is available to view online. Customers simply sign in to their account online, view the bill electronically and choose how to pay it.
SCE&G offers several payment options, including ePay and eDraft, which enable customers to pay bills online. Customers have online access to up to 24 months of past bills and payment history. To learn more and sign up, visit www.sceg.com/paperless.
SCE&G electric customers can further contribute to the development of renewable energy in South Carolina by registering online to make recurring tax-deductible contributions of as little as $4 per month to PaCE via their SCE&G bill or by calling 1-800-251-7234.

SCE&G has about 670,000 electric customers in South Carolina. About half of those are in the greater Charleston area. The utility also has about 320,000 natural gas customers in S.C.
