The Revenue Cutter Eagle (right) was a ship used during the War of 1812, as was the Revenue Cutter Gallatin, which exploded and sank in Charleston harbor in 1813.
Coast Guard Chaplain Len Driskell and Capt. Michael White, commander of Coast Guard Sector Charleston, dropped a wreath into Charleston Harbor on Monday to mark the 200th anniversary of the fatal explosion aboard the Revenue Cutter Gallatin.
