A driver hit a horse and rider and kept going in rural Charleston County Saturday night, and deputies are looking for leads.
A vehicle believed to be a pickup truck hit the horse about 8:30 p.m. Saturday on S.C. Highway 174 near Dawhoo Road in Adams Run, sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said. The horse was fatally injured and died at the scene.
The rider was thrown from the horse and left by the side of the road. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
