GREENVILLE — Eric Alexander, Andrew Cherniwchan and Justin Courtnall scored as the South Carolina Stingrays wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 win over the Greenville Road Warriors on Friday.
The Stingrays (38-26-5-3) are locked into the sixth seed in the ECHL playoffs and will await the winner of the third seed between Gwinnett and Florida for the best-of-seven series.
Alexander got his first pro goal with 51 seconds left in the first period on assists by Robby Dee and Peter Boyd. Cherniwchan gave the Rays a two-goal lead at 9:49 of the second period on an assist from Derek Foam.
Courtnall scored at 9:06 in the third on assists by Alex Mac-Leod and Andrew Sackrison.
Greenville (36-27-2-6) had cut the lead at 15:49 on Sean Berkstresser’s goal past Ryan Zapolski (W, 32 saves on 33 shots).
The Stingrays closed the season series against their in-state rivals with an 8-5-0-1 record.
Scott Stajcer had 28 saves on 31 shots for Greenville.
South Carolina went 1 for 7 on the power play, while the Road Warriors went 0 for 3.
