A North Carolina-based jewelry and accessories store will open in downtown Charleston June 1.
Moon and Lola will take over the 1,525-square-foot space at 322 King St. currently occupied by Robot Candy Co, according to Chad Yonce of Southeastern Management Group real estate firm.
The candy shop’s owners decided not to renew their lease so they could find another space in downtown Charleston, either near the tourist-heavy City Market or the rapidly developing upper King Street area.
Moon and Lola, based in Apex, N.C., is named after the nicknames of two college friends.
Monogrammed necklaces are its signature pieces, but it carries many more items.
Kelly Shatat of Raleigh, N.C., founded the company 10 years ago, and its products are carried in hundreds of stores across the nation, according to its website.
