A 70-year-old man found dead after he wrecked his truck today died of natural causes, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.
Joel Richardson of Cross was driving his 1997 Ford Ranger west on Old Highway 6 about 4:30 p.m. when he ran off the right side of the road, traveled several hundred feet and hit a tree. A witness said Richardson slumped over in the truck before the wreck, Salisbury said.
Investigators found no sign of trauma on the body, and the death was ruled natural.
Richardson was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.
