The Citadel baseball team is in Atlanta today to take on 13th-ranked Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets try to bounce back from a tough week.
The 15-9 Bulldogs are slated to start freshman right-hander Austin Mason (2-1, 5.93 earned-run average) in today’s 4 p.m. game against Georgia Tech (18-5), which went 1-3 last week and has lost two straight.
Georgia Tech will counter with freshman lefty Jonathan King (1-1, 2.84).
The Yellow Jackets dropped a 5-4 decision to Georgia Southern, then lost two of three to Florida State despite out-hitting the Seminoles in all three games.
Georgia Tech leads the ACC with a team batting average of .351 and with 22 home runs. Left-fielder Kyle Wren is batting .462 in ACC play and has a 12-game hit streak.
For the Bulldogs, Hughston Armstrong is batting .398, and Bo Thompson is at .389 with eight home runs.
