At a meeting tonight, Isle of Palms’ City Council will discuss whether City Administrator Linda Tucker crossed the line when she asked a few on duty firefighters to help a councilwoman carry a couch down a flight of stairs at that woman’s home.
Tucker said the act of kindness isn’t a perk of being on City Council. It’s a service made available by the Public Works Department and benefits all residents who could use some help from time to time, she said.
Councilman Ryan Buckhannon questioned whether such services should be reserved for emergencies. He said he thinks the city needs to create a policy to clarify what is and isn’t appropriate.
The Council will discuss the situation at it’s meeting tonight at 7 p.m., Buckhannon said
A presentation concerning beach access parking is also on the agenda. The city hired Rick Day of Stantec Consulting Services to assist with that issue.
Residents are asked to inform the Council and Day know of any neighborhood parking issues across the island.
Tonight’s meeting will take place at City Hall, 1207 Palm Blvd.
