Summerville police are investigating a robbery that occurred early this morning at a CVS pharmacy at 301 North Main St.
It is the second drug store robbery in town in the past six days.
At 5:52 a.m., a man with his face covered and carrying a hammer entered the store, jumped the pharmacy counter and demanded Oxycontin, police said. The staff handed him an undetermined amount of medication.
No customers were in the business at the time of the robbery and no employees were injured, police said.
Police are also investigating a robbery at a Walgreens on Trolley Road that occurred Thursday, but it is too early to say if the two are connected, police Capt. Jon Rogers said.
In that robbery, a man passed a note to an employee at the pharmacy asking for all of their Oxycontin, police said. The suspect in that crime was white and was wearing a baseball cap, glasses, a black wig and a fake mustache, according to the police report.
Anyone with information on the crimes can contact the Summerville Police Department at 851-4100.
