Richard Willis scholarship benefit motorcycle ride
A motorcycle ride will be held Saturday to support a scholarship fund created in honor of a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician who died in January.
Richard “Richie” Willis, 27, died after his truck was struck by a train at a crossing in St. George.
The ride starts 10 a.m. at Lowcountry Harley-Davidson, 4707 Dorchester Road in North Charleston. It ends at noon at STAT Ambulance Service, 13 Amy Elsey Drive in West Ashley, where Willis worked. The cost is $10 per rider, $5 per passenger.
The fund was created to help other fire and emergency service workers to further education and careers. The ride is sponsored by Lowcountry Harley-Davidson, STAT and Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club. For more information, call (843) 714-8431 or (843) 864-1062.
