Maybe the countryside is an attraction, and the drive to the city isn’t too bothersome. Or perhaps the town in northern Charleston County is home.

Whatever the case, a three-bedroom house in McClellanville about 30 miles from upper Mount Pleasant can be leased for a reasonable $950 a month.

Located at 546 Society Road, the property is on the eastern side of town.

“The house has everything you’re looking for,” says Renata Smalls-Stinson, agent with The Space Co. in Charleston. She is handling the lease.

From the front, the masonry-style residence showcases a good-sized front porch and three groupings of windows with shutters on the façade. There is a central front door as well as an entrance toward the front left of the house.

According to Smalls-Stinson, the home is “totally renovated.” Features include hardwood floors throughout the dwelling; and stove, refrigerator and dishwasher in the eat-in kitchen.

Also inside the 1,560-square-foot residence are a family room, laundry room, full bath and half-bath.

The property sits on nearly a half-an-acre and has a sizable lawn in front and open back and side areas. The large yard, she says, is good “for entertaining.”

Off the back of the house is a screened-in patio porch, she says. Water is included with the rent.

Society Road is just off South Pinckney, which is the main route to town hall and the commercial boat landing where shrimpers bring their catches at Jeremy Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway. About five miles north is the Santee River, and it’s another 10-15 miles to the town of Georgetown.

The house is off U.S. Highway 17 North. From the Charleston area, take Highway 17 out of Mount Pleasant and proceed 28 miles, passing through Awendaw. Turn right at the traffic light at Highway 45 into McClellanville. Go about a half-mile and make the third left on Society Road, which is not quite a mile long. Ahead is 546 Society Road.
