The Ben Sawyer Bridge was fixed this morning after being stuck open for nearly an hour and a half.
Traffic is expected to slowly return to normal after the malfunction just after 7:30 a.m. that halted traffic on S.C. Highway 703, or Ben Sawyer Boulevard.
Sullivan’s Island had been accessible by the Isle of Palms connector before repair crews managed to fix the issue just before 9 a.m.
The cause of the problem was not immediately known.
Elsewhere, a traffic jam was cleared about 9 a.m. after a crash on Ashley River Road near Shadowmoss Parkway in West Ashley.
The wreck was reported about 7:45 a.m. in the area just west of Bees Ferry Road.
Injuries were reported, and multiple vehicles were involved, according to the Charleston Police Department.
