A Charleston wedding ceremony this weekend was interrupted by a 20-year-old student pressing himself naked against a hotel window overlooking the festivities, according to Charleston police.

Several witnesses at a hotel in the City Market area said a man came to a window of a room overlooking the courtyard where the wedding was being held and started waving at guests.

The man reappeared at the window totally naked. He pressed his genitals against the window, then turned around and pressed his buttocks against the window, waving his posterior from side to side.

Witnesses said they noticed a large tattoo across his back.

An officer knocked on the door of the room and a man answered with a towel wrapped around this waist. The officer noticed a large tattoo across his back. A female was also in the room.

The man got dressed and went outside. Witnesses identified him as the one who was at the window. They also said they recognized the tattoo in his back that the officer noted.

Samuel James Dengel, 20, of Chalfont, Pa., was charged with indecent exposure and booked into the Charleston County jail. He was released Sunday on $10,000 bail.

The tattoo says Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus, according to the report.

The Latin phrase is commonly translated “By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.” The phrase has become a popular motto of opposition to government oppression.
