Kiawah Island resident shot himself and wife over health issues, investigators say
A Kiawah Island resident shot his wife to death, then killed himself because he was concerned about her quality of life if he died from his medical condition, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to 78 Forestay Court shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday after a 911 call concerning a murder-suicide, Maj. Jim Brady said.
They entered through the unlocked front door and found the husband and wife lying in separate beds next to each other, according to the incident report.
Each had a single gunshot wound to the head. A revolver was lying on the man’s chest.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not released their names.
