Police: Pair arrested in North Charleston after drugs thrown out window
A passenger tried to throw drugs out the window after an officer saw the driver go through a traffic light in North Charleston, according to police.
Officers patrolling the Pepperhill neighborhood saw a small white Chevy disregard a traffic signal at Brandywine and Ashley Phosphate roads about 3:30 p.m. today, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. The officer tried to stop the car and saw the passenger throw drugs and a drug scale out the window on Cross County Road, Pryor said.
The driver eventually stopped the car in the Amberwood subdivision off Lambs Road and took off running, while the passenger stayed in the car. The driver was captured after a short foot chase.
The driver, Dante M. Hubbart, 25, of Shagbark Trail, was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and siren, simple possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
The passenger, Quintavious D. Davis, 23, of Stonybrook Road, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and littering.
