Guns in restaurants goes to public hearing
The public gets a say tonight on whether people should be allowed to carry guns in restaurants and other places that serve alcohol.
The S.C. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee will have a public hearing on the Constitutional Carry Act today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in North Charleston City Hall, 2500 City Hall Lane.
The bill would let permit holders carry a concealed weapon into a place that serves alcohol, if the business has not posted a sign prohibiting it.
More than 187,000 people in the state currently hold a concealed weapons carry permit, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.
