Two people were jailed on drug charges Thursday after narcotics officers found cocaine and cash while searching a home in the city’s Rosemont neighborhood, Charleston police said.
Members of the Charleston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit confiscated 0.4 ounce of cocaine, 0.48 ounce of crack cocaine and $895 in cash after conducting a search at 1910 Doscher Ave., police spokesman Charles Francis said.
Police charged Kenneth Gavella Thomas, 38, of Doscher Avenue, and Barbara A. Palmer, 54, of Meeting Street Road in North Charleston, with trafficking cocaine, trafficking cocaine base, and possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school, Francis said. Thomas also faces a charge of manufacturing cocaine base, he said.
Both Thomas and Palmer were being held at the Charleston County jail, Francis said.
A judge on Friday set bail at $300,000 for Thomas and $250,000 for Palmer, court records show.
The investigation is ongoing, Francis said.
