Zucker Middle School awarded grant for landscaping project
Jerry Zucker Middle School has been awarded a $2,000 grant from Lowe’s to plant trees on the school campus in North Charleston.
The grant is funded through the Lowe’s Toolbox for Education program, which is part of Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation.
Seventh-grade guidance counselor James Brooks, who applied for the grant, said “Trees are beautiful and can help reduce stress, improve air quality, provide habitat for wildlife and so much more. We want to improve our school grounds and community and teach our students the value of trees by having each of our homeroom classes plant a tree on school property and be responsible for its care and upkeep.”
The Lowe’s Toolbox for Education program, which is in its sixth year, has provided nearly $25 million to more than 5,000 schools nationwide.
