Walterboro man accused in double shooting in Colleton County arrested

A man accused of shooting two people outside a Colleton County nightclub last month was captured today.

Raymond Powell, 20, of Greenpond Highway was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies and State Law Enforcement Division agents at a home on Red Comet Road in Walterboro at 4:39 p.m., Colleton Chief Deputy Ted Stanfield said.

Powell was charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of weapon during a violent crime. He was arrested without incident.

Brittany Chaday McNeil, 26, also was arrested and is charged with harboring a fugitive.

Deputies responded to a 911 call at the Chase Lounge on Proctor and Rivers streets, just outside of Walterboro, about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 30.

A man who was shot three times was critically wounded. A second person was shot in the arm.
