Rep. Bakari Sellers says he was charged with DUI

COLUMBIA — Denmark Democratic Rep. Bakari Sellers said tonight that he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in October 2012.

Sellers, a 28-year-old attorney, is considered a rising star in the South Carolina Democratic Party.

He said has was pulled over by the Chester County Sheriff’s Office while driving to visit family following the University of South Carolina-Georgia football game the evening of Oct. 6.

Court records show Sellers was arrested on Oct. 7.
