ANDERSON — Twin sisters in South Carolina’s Upstate are celebrating their 100th birthday this week.

The Anderson Independent Mail reports http://bit.ly/12EwJfF that Lida Timms of Belton and Luda Coker of Greenville turned 100 on Christmas Day.

About 30 friends and family members attended a birthday party Saturday at a Greenville restaurant. On Tuesday, they celebrated Christmas separately with children and grandchildren.

Lida Timms says she doesn’t feel 100.

The sisters grew up in Williamston and were among nine children of farmers James and Janie Saxon.

The two used to go shopping together twice a week. But Lida Timms says she can’t see safely enough to drive anymore, so they talk on the phone at least once a day.

Both women are widowed and the last of their siblings.
