Texas Tech hires Kliff Kingsbury to be its coach; Chad Morris remains at Clemson
CLEMSON — Clemson Nation can breathe again — for now.
Texas Tech announced this evening that it was hiring Texas A & M offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to be its head coach. Kingsbury is a former quarterback at the school.
Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris interviewed for the position Tuesday.
Morris led Clemson to the nation’s No. 9 offense this season.
Morris is unlikely to leave Clemson unless for anything less than a head coaching opportunity. Morris’s contract calls for Morris to pay a $7 million exit penalty if he leaves for another assistant position. Morris does not have a buyout to leave for a head coaching position.
