ANDERSON — One person has been killed and another injured following a chase involving an Anderson County sheriff’s deputy.

Officials say the chased vehicle crashed around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Bryan Corey Madden of Anderson was killed. A woman in the car was in critical condition in a Greenville hospital.

Coroner Greg Shore says Madden died at the scene.

Sheriff’s spokesman Chad McBride says the chase began when a deputy tried to stop a vehicle he thought had been stolen. Madden lost control of the car in a curve and crashed into some trees.

McBride says the deputy was not involved in the crash and was not hurt.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
