Chicago Fire to play in Carolina Challenge Cup

The Chicago Fire is the first Major League Soccer team to commit to playing in the 2013 Carolina Challenge Cup.

The weeklong tournament, which features three MLS teams plus the Charleston Battery, the defending USL Pro champions, will be played on Feb. 16, 20 and 23 at Blackbaud Stadium.

The Fire played in last year’s event, going 1-1-0. The Battery have played the Fire two times in the U.S. Open Cup, falling both times.
