Charleston police say robbery suspect tried to sell coats
Charleston police are looking for a man who followed a Coming Street resident to his home and robbed him early Sunday morning.
The resident told police a man kept hassling him as he walked home after midnight Sunday and then robbed him of his iPhone and $51 in cash on his front porch.
Later that day, a man matching the robber’s description tried to sell an armload of coats at a nearby grocery store. The Coming Street Grocery store’s video camera captured images of him. Police think it’s the same man.
He is described as about 5 feet 7-9 inches with a stocky build and goatee.
Anyone with information is asked to call Charleston police at 577-7434 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
