North Charleston wreck victim identified

A Goose Creek man died after a two-car collision at U.S. Highways 52 and 78 this afternoon.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Anthony Smith, 38, of Goose Creek.

The cars collided shortly after 2 p.m., according to North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor. Another person was rushed to Medical University Hospital, he said.

Smith died at Trident Hospital about 2:30 p.m., according to Deputy Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal.

The accident closed U.S. 78 near the accident scene for several hours.
