COLUMBIA — A law student said today he plans to file a complaint against House Speaker Bobby Harrell over his self-reimbursement practices.
The student originally attempted to file a complaint with the House Ethics Committee against Harrell following a late September Post and Courier report on the speaker’s reimbursements,.
But state law prohibits the filing of a complaint within 50 days before an election in which the subject of the complaint is a candidate.
Harrell, a Republican from Charleston, cruised to re-election Tuesday night.
Harrell’s office has said his reimbursement practices are in compliance with state law.
