Teen stabbed during Saturday night fight at Coastal Carolina fair
A teenager was stabbed in the thigh and abdomen Saturday night after a fight between two people at the Coastal Carolina Fair grew to involve as many as 15, authorities said.
David Jackson, 18, of Charleston was taken to the Medical University Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said.
Deputies responded to a report of a fight in progress at the the midway about 11:45 p.m.
Brady said the fight started between two people and expanded to as many as 15 before it was contained. Brady said the fight is still under investigation and did not release any information about possible suspects.
Brady said this has been the only incident at the fair since it began Oct. 27.
Highway Patrol troopers closed two exits on Interstate 26 Saturday night because the fair was at capacity, causing significant traffic delays.
