Bobby Hansen Jr. tossed four scoreless innings for the Hagerstown Suns as they beat the Charleston RiverDogs, 2-0, in a rain-shortened game at Riley Park on Saturday with 2,870 on hand.
Rain ended the South Atlantic League matchup in the sixth inning and forced the cancellation of the second game of a doubleheader, which was due to Friday’s rainout.
The loss drops the RiverDogs to 61-54, 22-26 in the second half.
The Suns (68-49, 26-22) picked up the game’s first run in the fourth inning off Bryan Mitchell (7-10) when Justin Miller led off with a single and later scored on a wild pitch.
J.R. Higley had an RBI double in the sixth for Hagerstown before rain stopped play.
Fans holding tickets for Saturday’s game can exchange them for tickets to any remaining 2012 regular season RiverDogs home game.
During the delay, the Lowcountry Military Woman of the Year was named.
The RiverDogs have a day off, then will head to Asheville to start a three-game series.
RiverDogs left-hander Matt Bashore (1-4, 4.11 ERA) starts at 7 p.m. Monday against right-hander Daniel Winkler (8-10, 4.79 ERA).
