PHOTOS: U.S. women set world record in 4x100-meter relay, while U.S. men break national record

Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight and anchor Carmelita Jeter helped set a world record of 40.82 seconds as the United States won the women’s 4x100-meter relay for the first time since 1996, while the 4x100 men’s relay team broke a 20-year-old national record in the preliminary round to highlight Friday’s Olympic action.

Also, Kevin Durant powered the U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team past Argentina, 109-83, to set up a matchup with Spain for the gold medal.

Jordan Burroughs won the men’s freestyle 74-kilogram division to give the U.S. its first wrestling gold medal in London.

The Bahamas upset the U.S. in the final of the men’s 4x400 relay.
