Murder charges filed in Hanahan homicide
Hanahan police made three arrests tonight in connection with the killing of 71-year-old Roy Bennett.
Brittany Lynn Swagner, 24; Robert Andrew McFadden, 24; and Robert Randolph Clark, 29, are in custody, according to Lt. Michael Fowler of the Hanahan Police Department. They are charged with murder.
They had no permanent address, living in area motels, Fowler said.
They are being held in the Berkeley County jail. There will be a bond hearing at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Fowler said police suspect that money was a motive in the slaying, which occurred in the Otranto subdivision Sunday.
The arrests followed a search of Bennett’s pickup truck, which was found in a Goose Creek Walmart parking lot Tuesday afternoon.
That search yielded fingerprints, and investigators examined surveillance footage from the store and a nearby Murphy USA gas station.
