RiverDogs fans get a treat tonight as nearly perfect Baltimore Orioles top prospect Dylan Bundy takes the mound in Charleston
The Charleston RiverDogs are famed for their minor league baseball promotions but the South Atlantic League club gets an unplanned gift tonight: Dylan Bundy Night.
Bundy, perhaps the top pitching prospect in baseball, will take the mound for the Delmarva Shorebirds in the 7:05 p.m. game against the RiverDogs at Riley Park.
Bundy, a 19-year-old right-hander, received a $4 million bonus last summer as the fourth overall pick in the 2011 Major League Draft. The Baltimore Orioles prospect is 0-0 this season with a 0.00 earned run average, but those arenít the most impressive numbers: Bundy has given up only one hit in 17 innings with 25 strikeouts and two walks.
South Atlantic League hitters are 1-for-50 against him.
At Owasso High School outside of Tulsa, Okla., last season, Bundy went 11-0 with a 0.20 earned run average as a senior.
But he will get quite a challenge tonight. Charleston is 20-8 this season, best in the league.
Delmarva is 14-15.
