Goose Creek police arrested a 20-year-old man following a domestic dispute on Madeline Drive in which a shotgun was fired and a car was damaged.

The incident began around 10 p.m. when 20-year-old Devon Jones got into an argument with the father of his girlfriend over Jones’ desire to have her move in with him, police said. The father, Harold Burns, 57, told police Jones shoved him and punched him in the face, according to an incident report.

Jones also shoved Brown’s son and allegedly threatened to kill Brown before he finally drove off, police said.

Jones returned a short time later with two other men. He argued with his girlfriend and tried to push his way inside the home, police said.

Brown fired a shotgun blast in the air to scare the men off, and they quickly fled from the area, police said. Brown’s son then discovered that someone had smashed the windshield and driver’s side window on his Buick LeSabre.

Officers caught up with Jones on Highway 52 and discovered he had a gash and glass fragments in his leg, police said. The tread pattern on his shoe also matched an imprint left on the Buick’s broken window, police said.

Jones is charged with third-degree assault and battery and malicious injury to personal property, police said.
