Ashley Hall equestrian team triumphs
Ashley Hall won the South Carolina Independent School Association’s state equestrian championships at Mulletin Hall on Johns Island.
Ashley Hall scored 38 points in the Hunt Seat competition to edge Wilson Hall (36).
Meanwhile, Pinewood Prep scored 32 points to finish second to Hammond (35) in the Western State competition.
Softball
The College of Charleston fell, 2-1, in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader with Elon, and was tied at 2 in the fourth inning of Game 2 when rain suspended play in Elon, N.C.
Game two will resume at 1 p.m. today with the next game to follow immediately after.
Carly Corthell had an RBI, which scored Hope Klicker for for the Cougars (30-21, 12-9 Southern Conference).
Radford clinched the Big South regular season title with a doubleheader sweep of Charleston Southern at Buccaneer Field.
The Highlanders (32-18, 16-4) clinched the title with a 4-1 victory in the opener, then won 5-0 in the second game.
Ari Tedesco had the lone RBI of the day for CSU (29-24, 11-9), which faces Radford at 2 p.m. today.
Track
The Citadel’s Clay Allen heaved the javelin 203 feet, 10 inches to take second place at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson.
