Citadel baseball sweeps doubleheader at Davidson
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Citadel won both ends of a doubleheader today to take a three-game Southern Conference baseball series at Davidson.
The Bulldogs (22-27, 11-13) won the first game by 15-2, then took the nightcap by 2-0 over the Wildcats (17-28, 8-19).
In the second game, pitchers Logan Cribb, James Reeves and Ryan Hines combined for the four-hit shutout. Reeves (7-3) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief, and Hines earned his sixth save. The Bulldogs scored one run in the seventh and one in the ninth, and Mason Davis was 2 for 5 with an RBI.
Davis was the hitting star of the first game, going 3 for 5 with four RBI as the Bulldogs pounded out 15 hits. Joe Jackson drove in three runs and Nick Orvin two, and Kevin Connell and T.J. Clarkson combined to hold Davidson to two runs on nine hits, Clarkson (2-4) pitching the last six innings for the win.
The Citadel is at USC Upstate Tuesday.
